Earth Hour
On the 27th March 2010 there was a world-wide Earth Hour which, essentially, involved many landmarks around the world turning their lighting off for – you guessed it – an hour.
Not only did this save who-knows-how-much electricity, but also served to highlight (pun intended) how much pointless illumination there is in the world.
